Count it for your job
Type your date. The page shows the deadline and the statute it comes from. Nothing you type leaves this phone. This quick check assumes you are a subcontractor or supplier, not hired by the owner. For other roles and every date on the job, use the full calculator.
The Michigan rules behind these dates
- Notice of furnishing: a subcontractor or supplier gives it to the designee and the general contractor within 20 days after first furnishing. A contractor does not. A late notice cuts the lien by payments the owner already made under sworn statements or waivers. MCL 570.1109.
- Claim of lien, recorded with the register of deeds: within 90 days after your last labor or materials. Serve it on the designee within 15 days after recording. MCL 570.1111.
- A lawsuit to enforce the lien is due within 1 year after recording. MCL 570.1117.
